Useful course conversions

Marker Miles Race job

5 km 3.11 Check effort at halfway.
8 km 4.97 Decide whether to lift.
10 km 6.21 Finish the work.

If you train in miles

You do not need to convert every workout. A 30-minute easy run is still 30 minutes, and a 5-mile long run can be understood without turning it into 8.05 kilometers. Learn the few race markers that affect decisions: 2K, halfway, 8K, and finish.

If the watch reads long

GPS devices often record more than the certified distance because runners do not follow the shortest possible line and consumer GPS has error. Run the marked course, not an argument with the watch.
