Your first 10K, explained

The Week Before Your First 10K

Reduce the workload, keep the routine familiar, and remove race-morning decisions early.

Plain answerYou cannot gain meaningful new fitness in race week, but you can arrive tired. Reduce running volume, keep a little familiar easy movement, sleep on your normal schedule, and settle clothing, food, transport, and event rules before the final night.

Seven to four days before

  • Confirm registration, packet pickup, start time, course, and transport.
  • Check the weather trend without treating a distant forecast as certain.
  • Use short easy running; do not test yourself with a full 10K.
  • Resolve shoe and clothing choices from items already used in training.

Three to one days before

  • Reduce decisions and protect normal sleep.
  • Charge devices and download anything that must work without reception.
  • Lay out the complete kit and attach the bib if available.
  • Keep food and hydration familiar rather than forcing a new loading ritual.

The final evening

Work backward from the time you must enter the start area. Include travel, parking, walking, toilets, bag check, and a buffer. Set two alarms and stop checking the forecast.

What nervousness means

Nerves are not evidence that training failed. They are the body noticing that the day matters. Give that energy jobs it can complete: follow the checklist, arrive, settle through kilometer two, and then run the course in front of you.

Run More! You can do it!

RunTeaming is an Android running league. Your best qualifying run of the week becomes your score on a five-runner team. The app supplies the team and matches it against another team near its level, so you do not have to recruit anyone or meet at the same time or place.

Use the button to email the Google account on your Android phone. You will get a reply with the current access instructions.
